Meet NFT Tweet Tiles – the first Web3 integration on Twitter under new CEO Elon Musk
Guess what? Less than 24 hours after Tesla CEO Elon Musk completed his $44 billion acquisition of social media giant Twitter, the team behind the social networking site wasted no time in launching a new blockchain feature called NFT Tweet Tiles.
According to an announcement from Twitter Dev, NFT Tweet Tiles will allow users to showcase their digital collections via tweets in a dedicated panel containing details such as artwork titles and creator names, as well as a button that allows users to click through to marketplace listings.
“In testing. nft Tweet Tiles. some nft links on @rarible, @MagicEden, @dapperlabs and @Jumptradenft will now show a larger view of the nft, along with details like title and creator. twitter dev said in a tweet Friday, “On our journey to let developers influence Another step in our journey to let developers influence the Tweet experience.

It’s worth noting that this exciting feature is still in beta as the company is currently working with four NFT platforms to try out integrations. This includes top Solana NFT marketplace Magic Eden, multi-chain NFT platform Rarible, Flow blockchain creator Dapper Labs, and sports-centric platform Jump Trade. however, many are quite surprised that the largest NFT marketplace on the planet – OpenSea – is not part of the pilot test this time around.
Nevertheless, a representative from Twitter told Decrypt that the feature is blockchain-agnostic, so all networks, be it Ether, Polygon, Solana, etc., will be supported as long as the link comes from a partnered marketplace. The rep added that Tweet Tiles is “currently being tested with select Twitter users on iOS and the web” and that only users in the test group will see the Tweet Tiles integration. The good news is that a premium membership to Twitter Blue is not required at launch to start using the feature.
How could NFT Tweet Tiles help in terms of Web3 adoption?
As more and more of the Web3 community finds its place on Twitter, having a simple integration like NFT Tweet Tiles could prove to be the key to NFT adoption. For starters, it will be easier for brands and individual artists to promote their digital artwork with this new feature.
Interested buyers and collectors can simply click a button to access digital collections without having to search for that particular NFT themselves. with this innovative feature, it is easier to attract the attention of degenerates and non-cryptographically savvy users, potentially boosting the volume of NFT sales and participation in the marketplace.
Of course, there is always room for improvement with this integration, as some have suggested adding a buy/sell button to the tiles to make it easier for users to trade their NFTs directly. imagine if you could grab a BAYC NFT or The Sandbox virtual plot from Twitter without having to log into the marketplace separately. Wouldn’t that be easier for you?
In addition, NFT Tweet Tiles can be easily implemented on the game NFT. According to Twitter, gaming is one of its largest categories, with more than 70 tweets per second posted about gaming on its social network in 2021.
In addition to gaming conversations, Twitter is the go-to platform for gamers, developers and publishers to learn, discover and create with like-minded professionals. If NFT Tweet Tiles goes live, many believe this integration will be a huge catalyst for gaming NFT, providing massive publicity for blockchain games in the future.
Security concerns around NFT Tweet Tiles
Due to the rampant spam bots on Twitter, certain users are concerned that if this feature is launched now, it will only cause more NFT scams. On this issue, Musk actually proposed some solutions in June that may help eliminate bots on the social media platform.
According to the new chief tweeter, there will be plans to add an optional paid service that will allow people to prove their authenticity, similar to the anti-Sybil mechanism in cryptocurrencies. In addition, the billionaire wants to open Twitter’s anti-bot algorithm to public scrutiny. It only makes sense, then, to introduce NFT Tweet Tiles to the general public after the company has addressed its security concerns.
About Elon Musk’s love-hate relationship with NFTs
If you’ve been following his tweets, you’ll know that Elon Musk used to hate NFTs so much – so much so that he mocked them as a sign of mental illness in 2021. When Twitter first introduced the hexagonal NFT profile picture to Twitter Blue users, Musk immediately called it “annoying,” calling the feature a waste of engineering resources. The most notable example of this was when he changed his Twitter profile picture to a boring ape NFT in May and then tweeted about it.” I didn’t know that …… seems somewhat replaceable.”
However, the famous billionaire seems to have recently taken a more positive view of NFT. Apparently, his shift in opinion has a lot to do with Reddit’s huge success with NFTs.
“There’s no doubt you can bet that Elon and his team saw what was happening with Reddit and were thinking about the possibilities of Twitter,” said Mahesh Vellanki, managing partner at cryptocurrency venture firm SuperLayer.” We are entering a new world, and you can bet that digital assets will play a more prominent role on Twitter.”
Whether or not the latest move is commercially driven (and it may be), the introduction of NFT Tweet Tiles is a great way for NFT enthusiasts to warm up on Twitter with the billionaires who were once critics of the NFT. Ultimately, it will be interesting to see what other NFT or cryptocurrency plans Musk has in place for his social network.
