Top Web3 Game Splinterlands Brings Multi-Chain Runi Cards

Runi cards can be fused, where one card is repaired and the other is destroyed.

  • Splinterlands will add special Ethereum-based Runi cards.
  • Runi will grant future staking and will have fixes.
  • Runi may become more scarce over time as it burns.

Splinterlands, one of the top P2E and Web3 games based on smart contract activity, also brings new NFT capabilities. Splinterlands has opened a casting period for its advanced creature Runi. Looney Bio is currently minted at 0.38 ETH after free airdrops and early bird allowed list prices. New cross-chain NFTs mintable on OpenSea and compatible with Splinterlands and their representations on HIVE and WAX blockchains.

Runi will be playable creatures that can also take damage in-game. For this reason, Splinterlands also brings a form of fusion where players can combine two Runis and repair one while burning the other.

Another role of Runi is staking, where players will use the Ethereum network version to lock cards in special smart contracts. However, these cards will remain available in the game. Additionally, Runi cards can be used in-game or informally rented.

What Will Be the Utility of Runi

Not all Runi features have been finalized, but overall, owners are expected to have exclusive game access and bonuses for the life of the card.

Runi are still reaching their buyers and are a novelty for Splinterlands. Each Runi is unique, based on a combination of features. NFT buyers will also own the rights to the specific artwork they mint as NFTs.

Splinterlands used its popularity to organize NFT campaigns during an otherwise slow market. However, the potential for stakes and in-game usage may appeal to fans of the game. Splinterlands already hosts over 160,000 daily players, some of whom still want NFT ownership.

Splinterlands remains the second most active game after Alien Worlds. The game has been around since 2018 and is one of the top collectible card games similar to Gods Unchained. The game eschewed Ethereum until recently, instead using WAX as the blockchain of choice for item and card transactions. Splinterlands offers a P2E model that is voted on by the community and has so far remained sustainable even during bear markets.
