Will Wright, creator of The Sims, is developing a blockchain-based game that will integrate NFT and Crypto. so far, VoxVerse, which has received $25 million in investment, is a metadata game that enables players to buy in-game land and items on the blockchain.
VoxVerse, as the name implies, will use digitally collectable Vox characters sold by Gala Games as NFT. However, Wright said his first priority is to create a blockchain environment where players can securely trade.
Wright told Axios that he does not want to “be in the business of selling NFT,” but rather wants to promote the VoxVerse to a wider audience.
VoxVerse will involve three kinds of Players
Wright expects VoxVerse to attract three different kinds of players.
The first will be a small group of wealthy virtual land owners who buy digital land with cryptocurrency. In the game, they buy land in exchange for NFTs, which keeps everyone else’s economy afloat.
They can rent out the land they buy with cryptocurrency to a second group of participants, the creators, as “virtual landlords”. The creators will need to share their income with the landlord.
The third group of participants would be free participants who use the work of others. Wright seems most excited about the third group. He said he was more interested in getting a million free gamers than 10,000 rich whales.
Details of VoxVerse
VoxVerse is similar to The Sims in that there will be fame, trust mechanics and character requirements. The game will have four different landscapes: rainforest, ocean, desert and mountains.
There will be a large city, divided into theme-based districts, built by gamers. Players will also be able to work and start companies in the game. It is unclear how VoxVerse will distinguish itself from other blockchain-based metaverse game projects such as Decentraland. VoxVerse does not yet have a release date.
