In conjunction with Alpha Season 3, The Sandbox has announced two new creator contests. The first, “90s Nostalgia in Web3,” is a themed contest in which contestants must create a digital asset of their favorite 90s icon using the VoxEdit platform. The second contest is a Care Bears game contest in which participants must create a game experience inspired by the Care Bears universe. The winners of both contests will receive 15,000 SAND and 30,000 SAND tokens respectively.

On August 24, The Sandbox launched Alpha Season 3, showcasing over 100 experiences, 13 avatar collections, and 16 NFT collections.The Sandbox has partnered with several companies and brands to launch contests and game cards, including The Walking Dead, Steve Aoki, Sueco, Warner Music, Care Bear, Smurfs , Atari, Snoop Dogg and several other companies to create experiences for Alpha Season 3.
A total of 22 such brands are partnering with Sandbox to create their experiences in Season 3, where fans can interact with branded content. Some other ongoing sandbox competitions include the Metaverse Writing Competition with HackerNoon and the Ragnarok Game Jam with Gravity.

90’s Nostalgia in Web3 Contest
The Sandbox has partnered with Coinbase Wallet to launch a 90’s Nostalgia Contest. The goal of the contest is to create an original digital asset of any 90’s icon using The Sandbox’s free VoxEdit software. Entrants must submit a GIF of a fully animated asset and tweet a mention of @VoxEdit, @TheSandboxGame and @CoinbaseWallet.
The submission period begins on September 1, 2022 and will run through September 13, 2022. To submit, users must fill out this form. Judging of submissions will be done by The Sandbox and Coinbase Wallet teams.
Reward. A total of 15,000 SAND tokens will be allocated to the top 10 winners. Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will be 6,000, 3,500 and 2,000 SAND tokens respectively. The 4th through 10th place winners will each receive 500 SAND tokens. In addition, the top 3 winners using Coinbase wallets will also receive an Alpha Pass.
Care Bears Game Jam
The Sandbox also launched the Care Bears Game Jam, where players can create experiences based on the Care Bears animated series in The Sandbox metaspace. Care Bears was an animated television series that was loved by millions of children from 1985 to 1988.
The goal of this contest is to create a playable game based on Care Bears. Entrants can use existing assets or create their own. Entries must be designed using Game Maker software and have a number of tasks and missions to make them interactive.
Each game must have features inspired by the Care Bears universe and contain at least 25 different assets. In addition, individual games must be a minimum of 5 minutes in length.
How to submit an entry?
Participants must submit a game from the Game Maker Gallery option and add a short description. After submission, you must also submit your game via this Google Form. This is mandatory, otherwise entries will be cancelled. The Care Bears Game Jam begins on September 5, 2022 and will end on September 25, 2022. Results will be announced on October 22, 2022.
What are the Judging criteria and rewards?
A total of $30,000 in SAND tokens will be distributed among the winners as follows.
- 1st place: $12,000 SAND.
- 2nd place:$7,000 SAND.
- 3rd place. $4,000 SAND.
- 4th to 10th place: $1,000 USD SAND each.
Entries will be judged on overall creativity (25 points), game design (25 points), creativity (25 points), playability (25 points) and bonus points/attraction factor (an additional 25 points) out of 100.
