For the World Cup-themed event, STEPN will be giving away 100,000 GMT to one lucky user who wins a winning country sneaker skin.
STEPN introduces ‘Around the World’ special sneaker enhancement event
With the World Cup season approaching, STEPN announced a special sneaker enhancement event, ‘Around the World’, with a prize pool of 100,000 GMT. This in-app event will run for a month from November 18th to December 18th.
During this event, users will receive Around the World Limited Edition Country Sneaker Skins every time they enhance their sneakers. Each country’s sneaker skin is randomly selected from one of the 32 countries participating in the global soccer tournament.
Only eight countries have ever won the top spot in a FIFA World Cup tournament. With that in mind, a prize pool of 100,000 GMT will be split among the sneaker skin owners in the top eight countries. Prizes will be awarded based on the following breakdown:
- Winner: 50%
- 2nd place: 25%
- 3rd place: 10%
- 4th place: 5%
- 5th to 8th place: 2.5 each
For example, say you have a sneaker with a German sneaker skin and Germany happens to win the tournament. According to the quota above, you and other users with Germany Sneaker Skins can share his 50% of the prize pool of 100,000 GMT.
Each account can also collect multiple sneaker skins from the same country. As long as the country is in the top 8, users will receive an amount of GMT based on the number of sneaker skins they have.
According to STEPN, all Country Sneaker skins are also tradeable on their marketplace. Regardless of whether the sneaker was purchased from someone else or enhanced by you, as long as your sneaker skin country is ranked in the top 8, you will earn GMT.
