Square Enix Officially Joins the Blockchain Game Alliance

Square Enix joins Ubisoft, AMD, Kongregate and more as new members of the Blockchain Game Alliance. FINAL FANTASY publishers and developers strive to support the organization’s efforts to promote the use of blockchain in games.

Renowned Final Fantasy publisher and developer Square Enix has officially joined the Blockchain Game Alliance.

On May 23, the alliance unveiled a Japanese company as its most recent new member. Square Enix joins the likes of Ubisoft, AMD, Kongregate, Animoca Brands and ConsenSys as one of the sponsors of this organization.

Sebastien Borget, Chairman of the Blockchain Game Alliance, said in the official announcement:

“Square Enix is ​​an early player in the blockchain gaming industry as a seed investor in the 2019 Sandbox and as a developer and publisher of Web3 games. I am pleased to have joined , and look forward to further involvement in this field with the BGA movement and its 500+ members, helping to expand the global reach of this technology’s potential.”

BGA is a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote the use of blockchain technology in the gaming industry. The company is headed by Sebastien Borget, co-founder and COO of The Sandbox Metaverse. Other board members include YGG’s Gabby Dizon, Sky Mavis co-founder Alexander Larsen and Ultra CEO and founder Nicholas Girot.

Square Enix Business Development Director Hideaki Uehara added:
