American coffee brand Folgers Coffee has begun plans to bring coffee to the metaverse and NFT space.
Folgers Coffee is a brand founded in 1801 that specializes in ground coffee, instant coffee and single-use pod coffee in the United States. The brand is the food and beverage subsidiary of the famous American manufacturer J.M. Smucker Company. Folger’s coffee is ranked as one of the best in the United States and is widely sold in Asia, Mexico and Canada.
According to a tweet by metaverse trademark attorney Michael Kondoudis, the coffee company has filed four trademark applications for “Folgers” and “Cafe Bustelo” with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The tweet said.

These registered trademarks will be used exclusively in the metaverse and NFT space. The trademark application was filed on Aug. 18, 2022.
Services to be offered by Folgers in the metaverse
According to the application filed with the USPTO, the companies under both trademarks plan to offer the following services in the metaverse
- Digital media, i.e. downloadable audio and video files featuring artwork, text, audio content and video content from the coffee field
- Downloadable image files containing coffee authenticated by non-falsifiable tokens (NFTs)
- Downloadable multimedia files containing artwork, text, audio and video content related to food products certified by Non-Forgible Tokens (NFTs)
- Downloadable virtual goods, i.e. computer programs featuring coffee for use in online virtual worlds
- Entertainment services, i.e., online, non-downloadable virtual coffee offered for use in a virtual environment created for entertainment purposes
In addition to Folgers, many other traditional companies continue to dive into the metaspace; well-known companies such as Red Bull, Wingstop, UTZ, Conagra Brands, Panera Bread and McDonald’s have filed trademark applications to enter the metaspace with virtual food and beverages.
