The company plans to build an infrastructure for game developers to reduce the interaction of gamers with the blockchain.
The “frictionless” wallet solution
Cryptocurrency infrastructure company Openfort has secured $3 million in seed funding to expand development of its Web3 game wallet-as-a-service software platform for developers and publishers. The round was led by Gumi Cryptos Capital and Maven 11, with additional funding from Game 7, NGC Ventures and Newman Capital.
Our goal is to provide video game makers with a smooth, frictionless wallet technology solution. It consists of multiple APIs compatible with browser and PC games made with Unity and Unreal Engine 5. To meet the growing demand of the mobile gaming market, the company is also building options to enable mobile gaming support.
Openfort’s Approach to Account Abstraction
Co-founder Joan Alavedra said OpenFort’s goal is to develop a user experience where technology “abstracts” the cumbersome elements of cryptocurrency trading.
He said:
“All the clichés about working with wallets may finally disappear. A very interesting feature that we are excited about is this idea of game sessions or session keys.”
Alavedra further compared Openfort to how internet cookies remember user activity and information, emphasizing minimizing direct user interaction with the blockchain. Openfort investors see this approach as a way to simplify and improve the gaming experience, allowing some transactions to be initiated without a user by smarthis contracts.
Gumi Cryptos Capital Managing Partner Rui Zhang said in a statement:
“Account abstraction provides the best underlying technology for handling customer accounts for Web3 games, allowing Web3 games to maintain Web3 functionality while delivering a Web2-quality user experience. We are the technology leader in this emerging area and use case.”
Additionally, OpenFort plans to utilize account abstraction and smart contracts to streamline and automate various parts of the cryptocurrency game, making it more user-friendly and efficient.
