According to U.S. trademark and patent attorney Mike Kondoudis, the trademark applications were filed with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on Aug. 16. With this, the singer intends to offer virtual goods, namely virtual art images, clothing, jewelry, headwear, eyewear, footwear, bags, sports equipment, toys, video game equipment, characters, badges, stickers, tokens, emojis and accessories for use in online games and online virtual worlds.

These applications also include downloadable computer software for managing virtual goods, virtual currency, and digital assets; energy drinks (yes, you heard that right); and entertainment services.

As of press time, the star of the Hannah Montana show had not revealed her future plans in Web3. Earlier, Cyrus made her metaspace debut on Roblox as an avatar of Gucci Beauty. Fans were able to play with her character while navigating different quests and challenges in Gucci Town.

In addition to Miley Cyrus, celebrities like Paris Hilton and Snoop Dogg have also made their mark in the metaspace. But that’s not all. As more and more artists choose to connect with their fans through virtual concerts, MTV has even introduced a “Best Aloha Performance” award category to its Video Music Awards (VMAs) program.

On top of that, Republic Records filed for NFT and cryptocurrency trademarks this month, indicating its intention to enter Web3. The move is quite significant, as the music label works with top artists such as Taylor Swift, Drake and Ariana Grande. From the looks of it, who knows? Maybe it won’t be long before you can party at the metaverse with a wrecking ball.
