The team has expanded their VR parental monitoring tools to include Meta Horizon Worlds.
Meta Horizon Worlds
Meta has announced plans to open up Horizon Worlds to teenage users in the US and Canada. Until now, Horizon Worlds has been restricted to users 18 and older. But the reopening of social VR platforms has introduced a set of age-appropriate protections and safety defaults.
Quest is rated 13+, so in the coming weeks, Meta will open up Worlds to teens ages 13-17 in Canada and the United States. We are also adding some extra features to make the platform safer for teens. Additionally, teens can play VR games such as Arena Clash and Giant Mini Paddle Golf on the platform. You can also attend concerts and live comedy events and create your own virtual experience while connecting with others around the world.
However, the team didn’t provide any details on a release date.
Customized Controls for Teens
Meta also designed and built an experience for teens with great protection and safety defaults. These include a Meta Horizon profile privacy setting that lets teens approve or decline follower requests, and an active status setting that lets you choose whether connections can see if your teen is active online, includes a Voice Mode feature that automatically turns on garbled voices for all teenage voices.
Additionally, the team will introduce a content rating system to help teens have an age-appropriate experience within Worlds. Additionally, everyone will have access to additional Worlds safety tools. These include safe zones and personal boundaries. Horizon Worlds safety features for teens are created with input from parents, safety advocates and experts.
