Mercedes’ past Web3 ventures
This is not the first time Mercedes has ventured into blockchain technology. In 2019, the company worked with his Icertis to implement such technology to ensure consistent documentation of contracts along his supply chain.
Earlier this year, Mercedes subsidiary Daimler South East Asia built a data sharing platform on Polygon. This allows companies to buy and sell data such as insurance information and clinical trials in a decentralized manner.
Mercedes has been more focused on real-world applications of Web3, but its latest filings show it’s taking a more gamified approach to NFTs and the Metaverse. It’s a trend with big automakers like BMW, Nissan, and Ford competing for his Web3 dominance in a number of ways.
