Pixels, a free-to-play farming MMO, is gaining traction among Web3 gamers. Here’s how to start a farming empire in pixels and earn crypto rewards with it.
What is Pixels?
Inspired by Stardew Valley and Runescape, Pixels is a blockchain farming MMO with over 100,000 monthly active wallets and 5,000 DAU. Its impressive traction is largely due to its vibrant gameplay and sharing economy, with the option to play it as an NFT.
Built on a play-to-earn system, Pixels is free to play so anyone can build their own farming empire. Gameplay revolves around farming, gathering resources, and customizing a virtual plot that players can interact with and earn rewards.
How to get started with Pixels?
First, visit the live gaming portal and connect your MetaMask wallet or log in by phone or email.
If you choose to connect to MetaMask, you can play with your NFT assets in-game. If you don’t have his NFT to play with, proceed to customize your free-to-play character. Complete in-game tutorials
Once you join, you will be guided through a series of tutorials and in-game quests, starting with a farming tutorial by Barney, a farmer NPC. He will teach you how to farm, use the items in your backpack, and manage your avatar’s energy.
Eventually, you’ll unlock further tutorials, such as the Plot Tutorial by Ranger Dale, and get a reward of 10 $BERRY and 6 Pop Berries before learning how to sell your crops to Hazel, an NPC in Buck’s Galore, for $BERRY. Receive the seeds of token.
Now that you have obtained the Popberry seeds, you need to plant Popberries on the player’s land. To do this, visit Dale’s Infiniportal in his office. Next, go to Farm#3056 and grow crops. Farm#3056 is a type of spaceland that distributes all kinds of resources. Be sure to bookmark this plot as it will be very useful for all your farming tasks on Pixels.
Once you arrive, select six plots to plant popberry seeds. Be sure to water and wait a few seconds before harvesting.
Once done, click on “Lands & Bookmarks” in the top left corner and select “Move to Terravilla”. This is one of the common ways to get around on your Pixel.
Earning your first $BERRY
The town of Terravilla is the center of the pixel. Here, players can interact with each other, talk to other her NPCs, and even trade their hard-earned resources for $BERRY. Be sure to look for the “View Map” screen to find your way. It doesn’t take long to get to Buck’s Galore on the east side of the town square.
Find Hazel in Buck’s Galore and sell Popberries for $3 Berry each. This will give you 18 $BERRY, which you can use to buy more seeds to grow pop berries. Repeat this step until you earn enough $BERRY to buy a chicken or a drill that allows you to collect crafting materials. You can also trade with other players through Buck’s Market. Complete the remaining tutorials (chopping wood, cooking, crafting, etc.) and grind to level 5 (at least) for better rewards.
Virtual plots in Pixels
There are three different types of farmland here:
- Free plots: Also known as specs, they allow players to participate in basic farming activities. You can purchase one for 100$BERRY. However, free plots have few features and have much lower yields than other types.
- Rental plots: Rental plots give players more freedom, better yields, and space for decorative purposes. The only downside is that players have to rent them and lose a significant portion of the profits they earn.
- Owned Lots (NFT): Finally, Owned Lots offer players additional space, functionality, and the highest yield of all types. There are only 5,000 NFT lands, each with their own unique characteristics. How to regain Energy
It is important to recharge your energy before performing in-game actions. To do this, head to Farm#3056 and look for this portal. From there you can access the sauna and regenerate energy for free (4 energy per minute). You can also replenish your energy levels by drinking energy drinks.
Pixels’ tokenomics
The game runs on a dual token model, with $BERRY as the main in-game currency and $PIXEL as the premium token.
$BERRY can be earned by cultivating and selling resources, and can be used to purchase in-game items. $PIXEL is given to active his players as a daily reward. These include those who complete daily reward missions and contribute user-generated content to the game.
There is no supply limit for either token. However, only 100,000 $PIXEL will be minted every day. The $PIXEL token is not yet available at the time of this writing.
Moving to the Ronin Chain
In September 2023, Pixels announced its exit from Polygon and the Ronin Network, the blockchain gaming chain known for powering the Axie Infinity ecosystem and blockbuster titles such as The Machines Arena and Battle Bears.
