Habitat Hibernation
Genopets has introduced a feature that allows players to stop the degradation of their NFT habitats. Initially, habitats could only degrade, but now they can be allowed to hibernate for a period of time, although players must pay a fee to take advantage of this feature.
Habitats are an important part of the Genopet ecosystem, allowing players to convert excess energy into KI tokens that can be used to create refining crystals. Refinement Crystals are essential for repairing and maintaining habitats, and they will be used in conjunction with the upcoming pet enhancements. However, players do not need to own a habitat to play the game.
A habitat has a fixed lifespan that counts down each day. Once it reaches zero, it can no longer make refinement crystals. Habitats cost 1 crystal to repair and must be in the form of a habitat.
Requirements for Hibernation
A level 1 hibernation can only make one crystal per day, so players must go until they have extra energy to convert into KI tokens for refining crystals. level 2+ hibernations can make several crystals; therefore, they are valuable items for those who want to make money from the game.
There is no limit to the length of the hibernation period in the white paper. However, the interface limit is locked to a maximum of twelve days. Hibernation is not a free process, as players must pay with KI tokens. For example, a level 1 habitat costs 10 tokens per day, while a level 2 habitat costs 16 KI per day and a level 3 habitat costs 23 KI per day.
In addition, each non-Genesis habitat must pay an additional flat fee of five (5) GENE tokens. Therefore, they can only hibernate once in their lifetime. Non-Genesis habitats are guild habitats and those made from the seeds of Genesis habitats.
