ConsenSys Releases New Web3 Building Environment for Scalable Apps

Linea is an L2 solution for wrapping transactions before creating a persistent Ethereum record.

  • ConsenSys has launched Linea on an open testnet for Ethereum Web3 developers.
  • ConsenSys already supports developer portals and tools for using Infura full nodes.
  • Linea is a new L2 solution that is compatible with EVM and provides sensitive transactions.

ConsenSys, one of the leading blockchain connectivity providers, has branded a new tool for scalable Web3 apps. The new build environment is aimed directly at her Web3 team and answers the speed challenge of blockchain-connected apps.

ConsenSys has branded its zero-knowledge protocol Linea, bringing a new Layer 2 solution compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine.

Linea, also known as ZK Rollup, wraps transactions and allows you to generate records over Ethereum using only one block. This is Web3’s primary gas-saving mechanism while still providing potential confidentiality.

Linea has been in development since Q4 2022 and provided a limited private testnet version in January. Linea is currently available on testnet, but is waiting for a release to build a new generation of his Ethereum-based apps.

Linea aims to be easy to configure, even for novice developers. L2 solutions are compatible with MetaMask and can be used for gaming, NFT, DeFi, and other Web3 use cases. Currently, the developer can only work with testnet tokens and is still waiting for the release of his new ConsenSys brand.

Linea and ConsenSys Targed Solidity Developers

The appearance of linea is a rarer occurrence, as most of the large L1 and L2 are nearly colonized. However, the emergence of new blockchain hubs marks further growth for Web3. Linea is currently in a period of aggressive social media promotion to build community.

ConsenSys also offers a dedicated developer portal with resources for generating transactions, building smart contracts, or launching entire apps. ConsenSys relies on Infura, the go-to full node operator for data across the Ethereum blockchain.

Compared to other environments, ConsenSys and Linea are relatively complex to use and are tailored for Solidity developers. Using ConsenSys may also include setting up an Ethereum node and enabling your app. This is an older approach compared to modern RPC technologies that don’t require nodes.

Ethereum 2.0 is still one of the largest networks supporting legacy and new games and apps. Building on Ethereum also facilitates access to decentralized trading and liquidity.
