Civitas Launches The Machines Arena

Many blockchain games with long development cycles have taken to releasing smaller Discord or web-based games to keep their players entertained while they wait. Sometimes these filler games align with the theme of the main game, or even blend in somehow. However, Civitas decided to take a different approach and released a top town MOBA game on Steam called Machine Arena

Building a game can take a while. And many blockchain games have adapted a mechanism to keep their initial investors engaged and interested. This usually involves building a Discord or web-based game, usually related to the main game in some way. But Civitas has chosen a different route, creating a top-down multiplayer online battle arena game in the Unreal Engine to showcase their developers’ capabilities

The game is called “The Machines Arena”.

The Machines Arena

The Machines Arena is a fast, action-packed MOBA game that pits two teams of four players against each other. Players wield weapons such as guns, lasers and flamethrowers and fight in matches that usually take 5-10 minutes. The game looks good and plays smoothly.

The game is still in development and is marked as Early Access on Steam. While officially in “closed beta”, all you have to do to play the game is click the Request Access button on its Steam game page. While the game still has some rough edges and a small player base at the moment, the response has been positive overall.

The game takes up about 20 gigabytes of hard drive space and requires Windows 10 or a newer operating system. Players can find the game at the Steam store web link or search for the game in the Steam client.

Machine Arena is not a blockchain game and does not include NFT or any tokens or built-in rewards, though they currently maintain a leaderboard with Steam gift cards as a reward for the highest finishers.
