Beast Garden Retires BGFOCUS Tokens

In an interesting move, Beast Garden on the WAX blockchain, a game with beasts, feeds and battles, decided to scale back their ecosystem by removing the functionality and generation of BGFOCUS. All of the game’s features were pushed into their other token, BGALPHA.

When we last looked at Beast Garden, they added plant harvesting and beast evolution with a masterclass mini-game. Since then, they’ve made some updates to the game, adding Beast Feeding, Passive Combat and a new Battle Pass. Now, in another update, Beast Garden has discontinued their BGFOCUS tokens.

In the days when most blockchain games seem to tend to be built with multiple tokens on the blockchain, it’s refreshing to see someone willing to simplify their ecosystem. Of course, there is little need to use two tokens in Beast Garden. The game seems to work fine with just one.

In early August, Beast Garden removed the generation and most of the functionality of their BGFOCUS tokens. The beasts in your inventory will no longer passively generate BGFOCUS. instead, they will generate BGALPHA tokens through combat stalking and feeding. There is still a small market on Alcor for anyone with leftover BGFOCUS, or you can collect 1000 tokens and use them to start a trainer battle.

Battle Staking and Other Systems

In the new system, players assemble teams of three beasts and use them as stakes in automatic battles against other players. Teams are sorted according to the rarity of the beasts and must be staked for 24 hours before entering the battle queue. Once in the queue, they engage in battles at regular intervals and receive a BGALPHA for winning. magical beasts involved in battle bets are removed from the player’s wallet and returned once they are withdrawn from the betting system.
